S70 ABS Light Triggering CEL Topic is solved

Hello.

I have an abs issue that is triggering the CEL. I'm trying to get my emissions inspection done but I'm afraid that the CEL being on will fail my car. My car doesn't have the speedometer issue, but I do deal with the braking issue every now and again and my cruise control no longer works. How can I tell the problem is the middle out the sensor? If it is the module, I'm willing to rebuild it but I'm pressed for time on this emissions test. Is there a workaround to getting that CEL to turn off so (without it popping back on 10 minutes later) so that I can pass my emissions? Btw, the only code pulled up by a code reader at a local mechanic's auto garage is the P1550. Any help will be appreciated.

That code is the missing speed sensor signal from the ABS unit.

The ECU will shut off cruise if it doesn't know what your car speed is.

There is no workaround unless your state does not check for monitor readiness - I don't know of any states that don't do this, though.

If you are pressed for time, go to mattymoo for a swap at midwest ABS. Success rate for rebuilding these things is about 30%. MattyMoos' is 100%

There's no way to get around it. Even if you reset the CEL it's going to instantly come back as long as your abs light is on and it senses a circuit has dropped out. Either way your monitors wouldn't be set.

There are separate codes for sensor failure, so I would guess module. Of course, instead of guessing, you can check impedance on the sensors from up top on the front ones, rear you have to slide underneath

Almost every module fails. Speed sensors themselves almost never fail, the wiring going to them can due to age maybe 10% of the time. Sometimes you can have a faulty module and a wiring fault at the same time.

The older they get the more likely things are going to degrade.
