1994 960 power antenna

The previous owner replaced the power antenna about 20,000 miles ago. Now it's not coming up when I turn the radio on, which seriously bites cuz the car has a great radio right from the factory. The antenna worked for about two days after I got the car and then won't come up anymore.

Is there a way to get the antenna to go up and then disable the power function so it just stays up ? Otherwise I suppose I'll just replace it with an aftermarket fixed mast.

The fuse is not blown. I don't know what else to look at since I just brought the car home last weekend.

Have you accidentally switched the antenna off? There is a switch on the dash that allows the antenna to be retracted if you only want to use the cassette player. Leaving that switch in the 'off' position stops it from coming up when you switch on the radio.

Bill, have we put you on salary here yet ? Answering questions for brainless new owners of fancy featured cars like mine should pay well.

I didn't get an owner's manual with the car and there was one switch on the dash panel, right by the steering column, that I hadn't figured out the purpose of and had managed to flip while giving the interior a good cleaning. Hmmm ... yep, that would be the one.

Thank you for all your help with this new addition to our driveway. I've now located an owner's manual online and my more computer smart wife has printed me a legible copy of it so maybe next time I will have at least made some effort to find the answer myself before coming begging for help.
