OK - who can tell me what is going on here ??

It turns 1/4 turn, does not come out.

Leave it in, don't touch it. Drain the radiator by removing the lower radiator hose.

I've got a shop drawer full of them for when I inevitably strip them.

Lower hose is the way to go for draining as long as you don't have those shrink-fit hose clamps.

I've been draining by the lower hose for a long time. I was just expecting to see the usual drain plug.

Yes it does, it just needs a firm tug.

Thanks belatedly, ESTVolvo

I recently installed a similar radiator and had the same question. Pulls straight out after the quarter turn. My fear was that it would easily unlock a quarter turn and push itself out under pressure. Over the last 4k, that has not been a problem.

You could easily drill the tab and zip tie it to the hose flange, but I think that is bordering on the paranoid
