Hey Folks,
I noticed that my Volvo has a hard time starting in cold days after being parked for a while or over night in the morning. I have to crank it over a few times. Any suggestions are most welcomed.
Thanks.

Runs ok after it starts? Do you see the tach bounce around at all while it's trying to start? Might just need a battery refresh. You can maintain batteries by adding distilled water to each of the cells.

What kind of battery is it? Can you list the exact brand and model? Possible that it doesn't have quite enough CCA?
If you can verify that the battery is fine, then start looking into general tuneup stuff: spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, fuel system/injector cleaner, etc.
Any stored diagnostic codes?

What does it mean if the tach is bouncing? Mine is doing that and won't start in the cold weather

I think it's that the signal from the crank position sensor is bad. Could be a bad sensor, problems with the teeth on the flywheel (i.e. there's a couple worn ones or it's just dirty) that the sensor reads, or maybe something in the wiring. Hard to say for sure and I'm not an expert.
I was having that situation on my 2007 2.5T (tach bounce and slow start) and thought I had fixed it by replacing the crank position sensor and doing battery maintenance. Unfortunately the symptoms are back and I'm not sure what's going on.
