850 - Broken OBD 1 port - can't find replacement

My OBD 1 port has broken because my mechanic used to open it to attach a small wire to be used for reading the codes after the original wire was lost ( I bought the car that way). From opening and closing too many times, the button used to read the codes had one of its plastic pins broken, and one of the small springs below the button were lost as well, so the port simply doesn't work anymore.

I can't find a replacement port anywhere, neither with spare parts dealers in Egypt (where I live), nor online (to the best of my searching ability).

Is there a way I can find another one? I don't mind if it's anywhere in the world, because my car has some problems that I can't fix without the codes and I would gladly pay for shipping to get a working port.

I hope you guys would have any tips for me on how to find a solution to this issue, or even if it's possible to fix my current port (which I doubt, but someone might know better).

If there is a salvage yard that is a good source. The whole assembly has a connector on the back of it and it is very easy to change as an assembly.

If it was just changing the wire that is easy, a standard bullet style crimp on connector and a piece of wire soldered onto the bottom of the switch but if the button and the spring are missing it will be tough to repair. I suppose you could add a Single Pole Single Throw momentary pushbutton in place of the original but it would be less than ideal when exposed to the elements.

Unfortunately, there are no salvage yards here. Everything goes to the hands of used parts dealers, and 850 parts are quite rare in Egypt, unlike other older Volvos.

Well the wire issue was easy, but the temporary fix the mechanic used meant the plastic assembly had to be opened quite a number of times, whenever the wire would slip from its holding place.

I will look into the issue of replacing the button with something like you suggested then, I don't know if it would nicely with the structure of the port or not, but if that's the only available option, I'll have to try it then.

My wire is broke to the port but I manage to put it in the hike long enough to read the codes. Ive only done fuel codes. I have a cel on ite #A6 I believe for engine, my question is I need to read those codes but I don't want to screw anything up, by reading the codes can I screw anything up in the engine. I know sounds crazy but the cel is crazy and I need a smog .
