2008 s80 messages not working Topic is solved

Hi.

Newbie on this forum.
My 2008 S80 4.4l won't display messages related to kilometers to go until empty and the average fuel consumption etc. I get all the message such as door open, bulb not functioning. Could the problem be fixed by replacing the turn signal lever with the thumb wheel? I wonder if the contacts on the the lever are worn. About twice a year these messages about gas do work but for only a few days and then they disappear for months. Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I just see it is listed in the S80 forum but also in the 850-C/V/S70 forum. I don't know what made that pop up over here, but my mistake for calling 'wrong forum'. Sorry!

Replacing the switch sounds like a likely solution. The switch is just an input to the Driver Information Module (DIM), which is the computer that is really responsible for what shows up in the display. Since your DIM is properly displaying other messages, it does sound like the switch may be the issue, and not the DIM itself (which is an issue in earlier S80s).

Thanks Roger. I'm new to the S80 so I wasn't completely certain replacing the turn signal lever would do it. Your reply helps me decide to try a replacement.
