1998 V70 wiper motor and rear seat backrest removal questions

I am posting this on behalf of a new Volvo friend here in Calgary. He has an account but has been able to post anything yet. I have copied his questions below from his e-mail to me:

1) Is the windshield wiper motor's fuse coupled with anything else? It's not indicated on the fuse panel or book. Neither operate and where would the relay be for them.

2) How does one remove the backrest for the back seat (wagon)? There seems to be a really sturdy cross tube supporting the base of the back part of the rear seat.

Thanks Neil. Appreciate the help. Since I talked to you I have realized the problem. They actually work by we're mounted R for L and L for R !?!? Yes, I had extra help (father-in-law) that day following the front end damage and they have since vacated after the holidays.

So not windshield wiper motors but headlight wiper motors. Yes they will run but when fitted on the wrong side the try to turn against the limit peg and over-load. Well done catching it.
