What to avoid in a used S60?

I'm looking at getting a second car for under $2k. S60s appear in the Seattle area in this range regularly. Can you suggest what models and features to avoid for greatest reliability? Thanks.

Avoid years 1999-2001. Problems include front suspension and ETM.

Make sure the Timing Belt has been done. If not, use it to bring the price down. Expect to pay upwards of $800 (or more for this) unless you know how to do it yourself. What are the miles on the S60 you're looking at? Don't be afraid of a turbo model. In my opinion the 2.5T is the best engine Volvo made!
