Fog Lights

Post by PennaPilot »

On my V70, I've got rear fog lights but not front.

I know that I have to use VIDA to allow the use of the front lights if I were to get them.

Now, can I use the wire from the rear lights to power a front set or can I hook them up to the low beam on the headlights?

I did just that on my wife's old v40 - connected the wire from the rears to power the front fogs. Worked like a charm, though I was originally worried about the amperage, but never had a problem.

The only thing to be aware of is that the fogs won't go off when the brights are on like they do with the proper setup, the fogs will stay on with the brights.

Not good idea. You can change config in your car, install LSM module with front fog button, add 1 fuse and add 1 relay on CEM. :)
But you can't enable this function through VIDA. If you need this function, write to me in private messages.

I just want the install as smooth as possible.

Here in the Commonwealth of PA, I can get a ticket for Fogs and High beams on at the same time.

Well, if you contact yagger, report back on what you work out. The dealer told me it required software, but if yagger has a way to do it without software, well that'd be a boon to the community.

OTOH, what are the chances of a cop citing you - you'd need to be on a back road with the brights on and s/he has nothing better to do. Or is it during annual inspection?

Volvo fog lights NEED software.
I also have Euro fog light software which allows the fogs to be on with the high beams.
Nobody ever has stopped me in my life and I always have run optional lights in the front, (I live in PA).
I'm not sure that there is a PA law that states what you said.
If, (BIG if here) there is, I would guess that only a State Trooper would know it!

I own an '04 S60 that came without factory fogs. I was wondering two things.
1) How can I remove plastic pieces that inserted in the spot where the fog lights should mount?
1) In the spot where the fogs should mount, there are plastic pieces inserted. Are these held in with a screw? How do I go about removing them?
2) What is a good cost effective direction to go if I want to get fog lights installed? Or should I not cut costs, and just go to the dealer for the install? Which universal led fog lights will fit normally to my car?
I'm new to the forum and have only had my Volvo for a 3 months. Thanks in advance for any help.
