hood kill switch

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

hood kill switch

Post by nb2008s80 »

Hi.
I need to find the location of the switch that immobilizes the start of my 2008 s80 4.4l when the hood is open. I'm certain that this is the source of my remote start not working when it is very cold outside. I had this problem years back, the hood metal would contract just enough when it was very cold and that would allow the plunger switch to rise just a hair and set off the alarm. I adjusted the switch and it never happened again. I think the same thing is happening now so I need to locate the switch to see if I can make an adjustment. I think it might be located or associated with the hood latch, not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hate going out in -20c to start the car when I have a remote starter. It's not the remote because I had the shop go over it and reset it.
Thanks.

Thanks very much for the reply. I took a can of RustChek that has the red cap and spray both latches. This stuff cleans, lubricates and helps prevent rusting. I think it will do the job.
