Suspension codes

Post by scdk »

I am trying to figure out how to decipher my V40 suspension codes from the product ID plate. I've been able to find examples of various types of plates - IDP has a good guide - but nothing that looks like the plate in my V40.

Do any of you know any resources that can be of help?

Thanks!

Yup, apparently there was a lot of different stuff being done depending on model year and options on purchase. The list here gives an idea of options: http://www.swedishautoparts.com/V40/Vol ... NT_SPRINGS

Wow, I had no idea.
When I needed new springs for my S40, I just solicited online forums for used rears.
Bought new front ones from one of the vendors of this site. I don't think they had many choices.
Lucky they worked out I suppose.

Maybe you can contact swedishautoparts and ask them where to find the code? I mean, they're the ones asking for it...

I ended up asking a Volvo parts store here in DK: in case any one happens to stumble across this thread looking for the info, the bottom left of the plate has a six digit number, where the first two is your suspension code :)

Good to hear that everything worked out for you - I asked the parts store directly what the difference is (except for a price increase) and they could/would not tell me. So I guess it is probably minimal!
