Man does it ever end!! Booked in for an A/C regas and a not so competent pair of guys tried to convince me that the Climate Control module is on the blink. They said that the compressor relay isn't getting a chassis signal and therefore concluded about a faulty CCM. They left schematics for an S70/C70/V70 P80 series in the car that had been highlighted so I drove away cringing and knew the diagnosis was wrong. Fortunately they didn't charge me for the incorrect diagnosis.
Later when I checked at home Vida shows otherwise;CCM is live and has correct software. When viewing the A/C pressure with compressor activated the kPa reading stays at a constant reading (94.8kPa) when it should fluctuate with compressor on and off (should be as high as 1400kPa when running)
Looks like I need a new pressure sensor which is apparently in the engine bay close to the receiver/drier. Air blows cool with compressor activated with Vida so at least the freon is in there and the compressor is OK. The sensor was previously working as I was toying with it 3 years ago and recall seeing it report accurately with compressor on and off in Vida. Having the car sit around for 3 years must have frozen the sensor somehow. Perhaps a good smack with a hammer will fix it.

Well wouldn't you know it!! I must have unplugged the pressure sensor when I was pulling/swapping drive-lines. Snaked my hand up to the connector and plugged in the loose 3 pin plug. Blows like a mountain breeze now.
Pressures are a little low at 1,050kPa according to Vida (my T5 sits at 1,500 kPa when compressor is on) but that just gives me an excuse to rub salt in the A/C guy's wound and ask him to top it up for me.

Car was finally sold last Thursday. I sold it for almost 5 times the purchase price of $1,100 4 years ago however taking all costs into account I had already spent around $4,300 including purchase price. Thanks for all here on the forum for your input and help. There is no way I could have done this without Matthews forum and the project also fuelled some other purchases and repairs on other cars I own
Next job is to finish the 2006 XC90 2.5T and get that on the road.
