I think we have had several unsuccessful install attempts with kit like that on Volvo, especially 1999+

You all realize this is from last Sept, and the OP by now has found a way to start his car but never bothered to come back and tell us what he did!

Op probably never got it running. He didn't have tow money, so owning an old Volvo was probably not a good path in retrospect

Who buys a car without functioning keys,?????? That's one step below upside down intercoolers...

before you attempt anything you have to get the alarm to turn off. I would try to lock and unlock the car from the driver door at least three times. as for starting the key and transponder are matched. put the junkyard immobilizer ring on the ignition and push the junkyard key up against the antenna ring. Use your regular key to start the car.

I bought some ID48 transponders from a local locksmith recently.

Henry (doublebug) was the guy who re-created new immobilser codes in a 2006 XC70 that had lost them from the CEM and then programmed the transponders to suit. That's what I call magic!!

Mind that this is doable on the later style CEMs. I don't think Henry can do this with earlier ones or can you, mate?

I can but for 1999-2004 CEMs corruption goes in some unpredictable way so in some cases some additional magic is required :).
Sometimes even external chip programmer help needed.
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)

Simple point.
You need to buy NEW or REMANUFACTURED remote and go to official dealer, or call to service, which can to program this thing.
A little bit about REMANUFACTURED remote control:
item should be together with BARCODE!
Some sellers like to call remanufactured remote with new package only, but there is not reseted chip inside. You need to be careful, if you want to buy remanufactured remote control.
