V70 or S60? 2005

Post by Volvodummy »

Which is the better car?
I am looking at 05 S60 with 100k for 3,000 and a 05 V70 with 87k just popped up on CL this morning for 3700. I own the V70 2005 non turbo but she has dead motor at 315k.

Virtually the same car from the front bumper to the back seat. They'll both be susceptible to the same idiosyncrasies. Add the eventual tailgate wiring break-down in the V70, but that's not a big show stopper. On a very cold day it may take a bit longer for the back seat passengers to feel warm in the V70, due to volume of cold air at their backs. The child booster seats in the V70 are kinda neat if you have young-uns. Not sure if the S60 has those or not. Better back seat leg room in the V70, for sure!

The biggest differences can be WITHIN each model - stuff like heated front seats, turbo or NA, FWD or AWD. Either model can have or not have these options.

S60 is a 2.5T, the V70 is not turbo

We have a 2.5T in our 05 S80 and a 2.4 non-turbo in our 03 V70. The non-turbo runs about 2 MPG better, but with a little penalty in get-up-and-go, of course. Both have been good cars. I'd take either engine again.
