So here is the issue,
I have Vida 2012D running on a Win 7 32 bit virtual machine on my kids Ubuntu laptop. Vida works well, no issues, running IE 8 and .Net 4.0. It’s a clean install, nothing else on the Virtual Machine.
Got a dice clone, not a cheap one but one with good retailer reviews, plugs into the car ok, drivers on Win 7 find it and I don’t have any issues in regards to recognizing it. The Dice diagnostic software tells me I am running firmware 5.6.2 and all the test are ok except the one which requires the test device. Battery Voltage is 12.38. No red crosses or anything like that.
When I plug Dice into the laptop after loading it, I can read the car and pick up the VIN and other info. I also pass the Dice diagnostic test in Vida. Car is plugged into a charger to keep the volts up.
However, when I finally try the Diagnostic Tab to read my ECU and other Volvo computer codes it always stalls and gives me an error once it gets to ‘’identifying AUU’’. It tells me I have a communication error... always, tried it in admin, 1, car running, car in position 2.... running out of options.
Am I missing something, do I have a bad Dice? Bad firmware (maybe go down to 5.6.1), compatibility issues between the firmware on the Dice and the version of Vida. Reinstall Vida?

The charger may be sending AC voltage down the line. The Dice diagnostic tool is meant to run on pure DC battery power or the Volvo factory backup charger. Have you tried it without the charger?

Solved!
So it was some sort of compatibility issue between my version of Vida and Dice...
Uninstalled everything, brought .NET to version 3.5. Installed Vida 2014D and we are up and running.
Sorry the post took so long to update.
