Clutch Survey

Post by cuhfs »

My 1998 v70 (2nd owner) went 225,000 before the clutch was shot. Just wondering how many miles my 2001 C70 clutch will go. Obviously it depends on driving habits. How many miles has your clutch lasted??? Please post: model, year and miles when clutch was toast. Thanks.

2005 V70 NA - clutch is weak at 110k

Car lived in DC area most of its life - I suspect in nasty traffic

Will slip if I push up a hill in 4th gear at low revs.

On plan to replace sometime in 2017

254k dual mass flywheel clutch on a T5.
Worn to rivets. Car must have drove, bought the car with a dead fuel pump and running on 3 and half cylinders in a shopping parking lot.

'98 V70 FWD, non-turbo, 229,500 when original clutch replaced and it wasn't yet down to the rivets. Second oldest original clutch my mechanic had seen. I am in a pretty hilly area.

Can someone tell us how many miles Gordon goes on a clutch? I guess I'm about to find out. I'm sure area and highway miles matter.

A Volvo clutch lasts 230,000 miles.

Actually it may go a few further but that was the point where the throwout bearing seized and ate the fingers off of the pressure plate. The clutch itself was about 0.010" from the rivets so it was due.

So basically driving a manual is more expensive than an auto?

I say that because I got an auto replaced in my 850 for $575, part and labor. If they go about 200,000 miles, auto may be cheaper.

What's the cost to replace the clutch? Parts and labor?
