If you want to get to 300 HP, the easiest way is an IPD tune and an IPD exhaust system. That will cost you about a little over $1,000 if you buy everything on sale and can easily be done at home. Obviously, before you make these upgrades do a stage 0.

When you say OBX downpipe... did you put in just the downpipe or the whole exhaust? I'd like to get just the DP for my car, but I don't know how to go about putting it in and keeping the cat.

Just the downpipe I found for sale on eBay for my Straight flange Turbo for $150 I am in the process of welding V band connections into my already custom exhaust looking into high flow cat options but I am being told I can use OEM cat

Cool, I'll have to do that. My cousin is getting the OBX system and giving me the straight flange DP for some other parts I gave him, and I don't want the whole system. I want to keep it a little subtle.
I think he wants a high flow cat, but I think I want to try to use a stock cat.

It's worth considering a high-flow unit. They're not that expensive and you can get whatever size you want, so you don't have to step the diameter down and back up in the middle of a big downpipe. You can also get them in stainless, which is nice.

That's a good point. Less restriction is what the goal is anyway.

I agree, im hearing mixed info on the longevity of the universal high flow units. And to copy ipd system, i need to move the 02 bung downstream a few inches to account for hotter exhaust temps, says the ipd video. I think im going to run the oem unit and see what its like, maybe stay at 2 1/2 from cat back. A FULL 3" system isnt really necessary im reading that DP is the most crucial item to be larger. And they talk more about the shape being a "gentle bend" instead of the stock ? Shape

From what I've heard from people who have installed the downpipe before the rest of the exhaust, the DP makes the most difference as far as performance goes. Which, judging by the stock unit, the OBX should help open things up quite nicely. Similar to the stock intake tube compared to the Snabb intake. I just installed a Snabb intake in my cousin's S70 the other day and if you compare the Snabb to the stock corrugated plastic tube, the difference is incredible. You can't tell me that the new intake doesn't do anything. Between the smaller diameter and the bottleneck by the PTC, you're probably gaining a lot of airflow.
