Volvo V50 T5 Rear differential shot

I have a 2010 V50 T5 with about 135k miles on it. I was just told that my rear differential is pretty much shot! I got the car serviced at 125k, with timing belt changed and all.. Is this normal? Is this a recall/defect for this model. I wold appreciate some help on this before dumping a ton of dough on replacing it...

Not heard of that one. Get a 2nd opinion. You may be able to source parts off of another car if it really is.

Define "shot" better.
