URO Air Guide not fitting? Topic is solved

I can't seem to line up my air guide. Is there any special secret to it? Are there URO air guides out there that simply do not fit?

I'll try again tomorrow in the day... But man, it looks like it doesn't want to fit.

My pro parts Sweden one on my P2 fit but it wasn't as good as stock.

I just broke my P80 air guide running over a body in the Bronx, so I'll probably repair rather than try aftermarket

I just don't get it... I can do a PCV, engine mounts, etc, but can't get this thing in?

I was really hoping to get it in since I'm doing a long drive soon. (Long by NYC standards: 120 miles round trip.) I wanted to see if I could get better gas mileage. I did about a hundred miles yesterday and got about 25mpg...

Mine fit well enough but was distorted right from the box. The inner fender wells also didn't fit. I decided to use them as is rather than send them back figuring I'll get a parts car eventually. No more URO for me.

I generally follow this principle...

But I thought this was one of those places where it didn't really matter! It just feels like I'm putting undue stress on the charcoal canister, evap lines, the radiator, a/c hoses... But I was doing it in the dark. If something happens to this one I think you're right about ponying up for the Volvo one...

OK, could not get the URO air guide to line up with the mounting holes without bowing the hell out of the skid plate. I used a bunch of zip ties to connect it.

I think this is evident of a front end collision somehow. Things just don't line up on this vehicle... But yeah, it's connected. Looking forward to see the improvement in MPG!! I'll post picture of it later...

The first two times it was fine but the third time I ran it over it broke...lousy parts...

Do you still have the original one? My daughter beat the living daylights out of mine when she was learning to drive and I was able to repair it fairly cheaply with galvanized Simpson Strong Tie straps and some nuts and bolts. You can find simpson strong ties at home depot fro a few dollars each. They are about 2 inches wide and you canbuy various lengths. They meant for reinforcing wood framing. You'll need a way to cut them to size, drill holes and bend them to shape. For the most part I bent them with my hands. I used a bench vise for any tight bends needed and a dremel with an abrasive wheel for the cuts. Its an aircraft inspired repair. Straps are often used to repair cracked aircraft structure.

I replaced the two tabs on either side with the steel straps and repaired/reinforced some tears in the plastic. Mine now bolts in better than the original design. I did this fix after one of my daughters many excursions over the curb. She ripped both of the tabs off completely. I went shopping for a replacement and was appalled at what they wanted for something which is essentially recycled milk bottles - so I improvised. Its been going strong now for 6 years.
