1998 v70 awd will crank has spark and fuel but will not start.
Re: 1998 V70 awd will crank has spark and fuel but will not start.
Re did the timing replace the timing belt and cranked it had it fire once and popped the turbo charge pipe off. It wasn't on very tight after that it won't start and had no compression now so I think it may be lawn mower syndrome from trying to start it after the belt was replaced.
The engine cranks completely fine stiff enough not to have me worried it doesn't notch at all or stuck in any positiontheWIFES_S70 wrote:Try to manually crank the engine over. That'll give you some idea of what's going on. With plugs in, the engine should crank over, and it should be stiff and firm. If it's too easy, or if it won't budge at all, you've got some mechanical damage in there. It could be the timing. Take off the outer timing belt cover and give it a good look. Good luck troubleshooting.

This would be a strange coincidence, but worth a quick check. You say you have fuel. Have you pressed the schrader valve and it produced a good hearty squirt?
I'm asking because I assumed I had fuel to the fuel rail in my 93 850 when I tried to start it in October after not running it since July. In July it ran fine, starting instantly as always and with no hesitation or other symptoms that might indicate a bad fuel pump. But in October, with the outside temperature colder, it wouldn't start. There was some fuel getting to the fuel rail when I checked the Schrader.
Anyway, I had a spare fuel pump,I changed it out and it fired right up.
You might check that the schrader is releasing a good hearty squirt, just to be sure.
Good luck.

I would get a compression gauge and check compression. I have seen cars start and run with several valves bent a little.
How many miles ago was the head work done?
I have never heard of a wheel splash guard getting caught in the belt area.

Test this first (one teaspoon of oil in each cylinder) then check compression.Dingo957 wrote:Re did the timing replace the timing belt and cranked it had it fire once and popped the turbo charge pipe off.
