Greetings,
I picked-up a junkyard armrest from an XC70 because my armrest has a latch with one broken side and the top is in worse shape. It was a pretty good deal and I thought it would be an easy swap out once the console was removed. Little did I know that, although the armrests look identical, the attachment points to the console are completely different (pic #1). The XC70 armrest is attached by two screws and the V70 armrest attachment point is molded into the armrest well.
So my request for help is this: Has anyone just popped off the armrest top and switched them out? If so, what's the best way to do this without damaging the plastic tabs or the armrest? How many attachment points are there and where?
If the armrest top can't be removed w/o damaging it, is there a way to remove the metal pivots/springs (pic #2) w/o a specialty tool? There is one on each side, and once removed, the armrest top looks like it will slide out.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you may provide.
