Just a quick note on how I got around a small problem this afternoon...
The old original bump stop on my '97 855 disintegrated and fell down. I removed the pieces of it easily through the spring coils. I bought a new Febi replacement (cheap at $8) but couldn't fit it between the coils because it was too wide to fit.
I decided it would be too much work to disassemble the rear suspension and take out the coil so I could install the bump stop the right way, so I decided instead to shave off about 5mm from each side of the new bump stop and then slide it through. That seemed to work OK. I also bought a new plastic clip to attach it to the bottom of the upper spring mount. It fit together OK and seems to be clipped in well enough.
I'll keep an eye on it to see if it holds up.
