2006 S40 2.4 won't start
Ok so I'll start from the beginning. Just about a month ago I purchased a 20006 s40 2.4i for $500 with just a little over 160,000 miles on it. Figured I couldn't get any better of a deal even if I just part it out. However the car is never turned over started. It's had the mobilizer air since I picked it up. And I've gone through the unlock and lock it five times cleared all the codes. Tested the battery and still no luck. Now you turn the key to position to II it does make some clicking sounds and you can hear the fuel pump. But I just won't turn over. So I try to follow one electrical issue after another wears now I'm on my way to thinks the trunk is open. Also I get a steering failure service required warning as well as the trunk lid open and immobilizer see manual. If anyone could provide me with a in some kind of a checklist of things I should still go over I greatly appreciate it. As well as any tips or tricks for diagnosing possible problems with it. Good news is the engine does turn it has compression. It's just some stupid little thing that won't let it actually crank. So if I get this immobilizer figured out I'm pretty sure I got a really good car for $500

DiCE/ VIDA was going to be my suggestion. Isn't an OEM DiCE/VIDA crazy expensive? Unless you already have the OEM DiCE on order, a $100 clone system will 98% work for diagnostic (non programming) functions. OTOH, I've heard that the clone systems can't be hooked up to the Volvo software update systems (and heard elsewhere that they can!).
It sounds like some system in the car has decided that it should not start. VIDA will tell you where that decision came from.
