Just got home after helping stranded motorists in parking lots and treating a couple of folks without cars to a ride home since our bus system appears to have shut down.

A couple recommendations and reminders for folks with snow:
1. A Walmart parking lot isn't the ideal place to take your dog for a walk. It is a worse place to get stuck...
2. AWD + summer tires = no traction
3. That little warning light that has been on several months - it has been warning you of the imminent peril you're about to put yourself and I in needlessly.
4. If you get hit by a snow plow in NY - YOU ARE AT FAULT - It is actually a law on the books. Take note and stay out of the way
5. If you have heat at home - don't go out.
6. Snowmobiles do not stop on a dime
7. Passing a plow isn't likely to end well - you'll find out why soon enough.
8. If you can't see in the dark, why did you leave your house? Why tonight? Why did snow made your central intelligence unit decide to take a day off?
9. If your battery has been giving you fits for the past several weeks and you have money to attempt to tip me when I jump you - please go invest it in a battery...

The snow is ~3 feet in many places due to the drifts. The vast majority of my roads are a AWD/4WD owner's dream. I'll see if I can figure out how to upload a picture of the neighbor's roof. I forgot my cell when I went out (this should be #10 in the things to avoid list) though I did bring my Spot.

I sure did not leave the driveway today, but for that matter everything was closed anyway.

I think we are in for 24 total, but it's light dry fluffy stuff that the snowblower loves.

Did 7 driveways today. Ages in our cul-de-sac range from 6 months to 92.

Most Awkward moment..being offered money by my 90 year old neighbor who did a tour in WWII, KOREA, and two in VietvNam. Politely declined.

We got less than 10" here in Queens. Did not leave the house, even though the wife wanted to see what was open! It was a heavy, wet 10". Shoveled my neighbor's really small curb, she just turned 92 and doesn't step out much! Man, if I had a snow blower, I'd go up and down the street! Though the neighbors would probably be cautious and suspicious of my actions!

Man... making me jealous. I miss the 70 degrees from last week. This picture was taken Sunday (mind you it was in the 70s Thursday)... it was all gone by the afternoon. Never would have known it snowed by 3:00!
Still in the high 30s, low 40s today. I like snow, but I hate cold weather without snow.
