06 S60 stalling jerking every mile or so

Had a BAD mechanic replace the fuel pump I paid him for a new pump almost $400 plus labor and now when you start the car it will drive about 1/4 mile and act like it's running out of gas and stall.Then you can start it right up and drive about 1/8 mile and the same thing happens, I asked the mechanic if he put a new fuel filter on and he said yes, I checked and he didn't "My lawyer is giving him a call this week" I put a new fuel filter on and was able to drive several miles before it stalled. I had Auto Zone to pull the code and they said that I needed a new fuel regulator I took it back to the bad mechanic and he said that he put one on,He didn't so I did and then bled the air out of the fuel rail and the car would run as long as you didn't step hard on the gas. You would have to creep the gas up little by little to get up to 60 mph Does anyone here know what the problem could be? also when you come to a sudden stop and go around a corner the car stalls every time. thanks . Monitor the fuel pressure at the rail and the voltage at the fuel pump. Sounds like one of them is dropping out.

As above, I would retrain from now letting mechanics replace parts, just ask them to plug a gauge and properly measure the fuel pressure which is around 45-55psi depending on the engine. if all started with the new pump, I would look into that first. surprising to hear such issues on a 06 btw, what was the initial problem?

The initial problem was that the fuel pump blew a fuse, I put a new one in and drove about 10 miles and it blew again and that was it for the pump these new problems started after the guy put the used pump in which now makes me wonder if something else might have cause the the pump to go bad.

I had the codes pulled and they said that the fuel pressure sensor was bad so I replaced it. And it ran better for about a day and then it went back to running the same way. And then last night I read on this site where some one disconnected the sensor, I just did that and the car ran real well other than when going into passing gear where it started to cut out. I am at a loss for that. Does the 06 s60 have the PEM module that gets corroded by the tank?

Can you read the sensor part number? The sensor for turbo is different than the one for non turbo, maybe there was a confusion in part # ?

I will check the new sensor against the old one. also I read somewhere that if you unplug the sensor the car would run better I unplugged the fuel pressure sensor and the car ran much better except when I tried to go into passing gear and then it started sputtering.

Also, when the bad mechanic took the tank off (which he didn't need to do) could that have messed up the "Evap" system?

Well, it definitely could, but it's not too complicated a system to put back together, unlike P80s

If you think s/he messed it up, the solution is to not go back.
