Injector problem will cause noisy combustion from one cylinder.
To rule out engine mechanical noise drive up to 40-50 kph in 3rd gear and then coast. IF the noise is completely gone until the engine speed comes back down to 900-1000 rpm then it is not mechanical and is almost assured top be injector issue. combustion noises are gone when engine computer cuts off fuel delivery when you fully release throttle at engine speeds over 1200 rpm. Mechanical noise would not completely go away in the same test.

Hi,
I realise this original post was a while ago but I am having a very similar noise with my v50 and wondered if you managed to sort this problem out?
Was it fixed by cleaning injectors?..
I just had the flywheel and clutch changed as the main dealer said this was the source of the knocking/noise. It's still there though after repair and my local garage and a gearbox specialist can't identify or diagnose for sure. I'm hoping it is an injector problem and not something from the bottom of the engine...
thanks
Matt
