No, not seen that thread. I know most of the issues, but I was trying to find out if there was an easy way to check the seat heater out of the car. I already had the 2 seats dis-assembled before thinking of swapping the seat pad due to the original being trashed. Then I know whether I am swapping pads or trying to fix original. Also it would help me and others pulling seats at junkyards as there is no power on the cars to know if you have a good seat heater or not.

So I think I have most of the issues covered now. The original seat base cover should be re-stitched and ready for collection on Monday, and tomorrow I will look at the foam swap or not or fixing the existing foam as per Robert's video and as suggested by others here.

The only real issue left to figure out is how to remove the lumber support knob so I can remove the seat back cover. Anyone know how to do this?
I looked at Elwoods instructions but couldn't get them to work as stated previously.

Once you find the right connector, seeing 2 Ohms resistance will pretty much confirm the element is good. 99% of the time they will fail to open, I.e. Infinite resistance

Neil -- The lumbar support is a twist out, then pry proposition. You'll feel like you are on the verge of breaking something and swear that the plastic is about to disintegrate, when it will just release and come out. Be gentle. It is a bit nervous-making since as you are doing it you are sure this can't possibly be the way it comes out, but it is.

See if Bob Elwood has instructions posted on the Elwood Industries website. Those are the instructions I used successfully.

abscate - Tested the original and it gave 4.4 Ohms and the 'spare' gives 2.7 Ohms so I'm assuming from what you have said that would appear to be good. Tomorrow I will hopefully get the cover back re-stitched and then can work on re-assembly.

Evan - I was using the Elwood info, but it gives the impression you:

1) Turn the knob CCW as far as it goes
2) Pull the knob out which 'locks' the slumber support in place
3) Continue turning the knob to remove it.

I will try your method. At least I have a spare seat so if I break something then I can hopefully figure out what I did wrong.
