C70 Hardtop stuck partially open

Post by baughpd »

I stopped my roof partially open in order to glue the back headliner. Now it does not open or close. I tried the procedure in the manual of holding either of the buttons down for a minute and I also tried disconnecting the battery. Here are the messages displayed and here are the results of the scanner:

The car is undriveable at this point. Any suggestions are appreciated.

FYI - I got it working again. I tried to jog the CRM brain by driving it a few feet until the warning chime started. But that did not do anything. Then I reached into the trunk and loosened the plastic divider. I started the engine and pushed the down button. The message about a loose divider appeared. I reached back into the trunk and closed the divider. Then I hit the down button. It started moving but only about halfway down. Then I hit the other button and it closed all the way. Then I hit the other button and it went all the way down this time.

Great!
The CRM has impact protection and it stops if it doesn't have position sensor and position switch (actually Hall sensors) conditions that are approved (gateway checkpoints effectively).
I think what really let you get it to work is your moving car let one of those indicators get back into safe situation and it let you move it until it got to another gateway checkpoint position and stopped. Then it let you do an override close. Opening is less likely to be enabled but closing is allowed with wider tolerances. Once it closed the whole set was in correct states so it resumed normal function. The solenoids in the pump assembly are not 100% sealed forever and do leak a bit.

Thanks for the reply, but moving the car did no good. I tried several other things the day after I moved it and nothing happened until I loosened the divider in the trunk.

Anyone have a diagram on where the hall sensors are located on a C70?

Opened fine, got the error trying to close it. I was able to close the top but looks like I have wiring to check.
