Car was in a minor fender bender where someone backed into the front drivers quarter panel.
Took it to the insurance recommended body shop; they were originally going to repair it but insurance decided to write it off or allow owner retention, through a proof of loss. I took the latter!

Anyways, I get the car back and they had already drilled out the rivets for the liner and removed the mud guard.
They left the mud guard along with two pieces I don't recognize, does anybody know what they are?

I removed the dent with a deadblow hammer and dolly, so I"m ready to put the liner on, and I need to know where they belong.
Also, does anybody know the length of the rivets used for the liner. I measured the diameter of the holes, and a 3/16" rivet would work but I need to know
the length and grip length of the rivet. Otherwise, I will use a best estimate.

Thanks, appreciated.

PS: don't tell the wife, I took the picture on our nice bed spread

WTF??? The damage was no where near the license plate. Thanks though! Curious what the other piece is.

I wonder if that item 25 is the cover that goes over the tow hook? If it is it should fit snuggly over it, why don't you go check if it does.

As always though, I could be totally wrong.

Yes, I came up with the same answer independently from a google search with the part number.

I never knew the tow hook had a cover.

I hope I don't have to remove the bumper for the license plate holder plastic piece.

Glad you figured those out. I recognised the licence plate holder but the other part is hard to tell from the picture. If the bump was at the front why is the tow bar cover off? If that is not the answer, and you think it may be from the front, I currently have the whole front bumper off my 2000 V70 if you need any help identifying anything else in the next couple of days.

Glad you got your car back and running again!

Neil.

In short, the shop must be hacks. I really don't know what they were doing, but I will make a complaint with my insurance company. This repair shop is huge, has a good rating with factory recommendations from many big car companies, go figure. I bet as soon as they realized they weren't getting the business, they just slapped the car together as quick as possible and I guess they were looking for frame damage but it was such a small hit, they were wasting their time.

I'm still at the office now, but I assume the license plate plastic piece can be installed without removing the bumper?
