Hello, Just got a new pump and it has a pressure retaining valve on the out let side and i think my standand pump hasn't. Do i need to fit this part. Its the pump under the car not the tank one. Thanks

Is it a pressure retaining valve or is it a non-return valve?

Please describe it.

Pressure retaining/non-return valve sound to be the same thing to me.

If it is the bit on the outlet where you connect the pipe that goes forward you need it. The old one should have had one to maintain the pressure when the engine is off.
