Hello all. This is my second 70 and the second time the glovebox door latch stopped holding the door closed. The first one I was able to lock with the key, but on my "new" one, I don't have the right key to lock it so it flops open. Is there a way to fix the latch, or should I just buy a new one? Thanks!

The design is a little weak, but if you use it a lot I guess they wear out quicker. There was a write up on this but it may have been for an 850 which is different.

PnP is your friend here. Pull a glovebox door and swap either the whole thing over or transfer the lock assembly. You can usually keep the lock assembly. When you say you don't have the right key, do you mean it won't fit or do you just have a valet key? The valet key does not work the trunk lock or the glove box locks. In that case buying a key blank and having it cut by Volvo to your VIN# should then work.

Cheapest option is to just swap the door/or lock assembly and not worry about the lock itself.

Neil.
