Remote Locking and Tailgate issues

Post by skloon »

my 94 850 has a locking issue, I can lock and unlock all doors at the door, I can unlock all doors at the tailgate, I cannot lock the doors from the tailgate latch- I have checked the harness in the tailgate and have full continuity, I bent and twisted it too and it still was good- I swapped the latch and relays from a known working car as well, no changes, where should I go from here ?

You love these tailgate issues! Does a wagon lock on an 850 work all the locks or just the tailgate lock? You have done the normal checks I would have done in checking the wiring loom at the tailgate hinge and the assembly itself. I remember our discussion on the last problem you had. Again, does your car have the correct tailgate lock assembly?

I have the correct latch and have checked the harness repeatedly- all the swapped parts came out of wreck that was working the day before it got totalled

Good news! This behavior is totally normal. When you put the key in 850 the tailgate lock, all it does is manually lock or unlock the tailgate. There is no signal propagated to the other locks.

I have a '95 850 Turbo wagon and it DOES lock and unlock all the doors when you turn the key manually in the tailgate.

From the OM:

Your car is equipped with a central locking system. This means that all of the doors
(including the trunk lid/tailgate and fuel tank flap) can be locked or unlocked from
either of the front doors or the trunk lid/tailgate. If the driver/passenger door or
trunk lid/tailgate is locked or unlocked using the key, the other doors will also be
locked or unlocked automatically. To lock or unlock the car from the inside, push
or pull the lock buttons on either of the front doors. If either of the front doors
is opened from the inside, all of the doors and trunk lid/tailgate will be unlocked.

My 1999 does not unlock all locks from the trunk key switch, and in fact trips the alarm if I open the trunk with the key with it armed.

My owners manual does not have that verbiage about the central locking so Im guessing....the bastards strike again.

My 2005 P2 has no trunk key - I think it vanished in 2004 on some models in NA, at least
