Scan tools - confusing amount... which work?

I tried 5 or 6 diff scanners to read volvo extended info, vida is the only way to do it correctly

Give me an old laptop and I can help you setup software, interface is about $75
I can even take an old laptop and setup for you

PM me what you want, once setup is can do a lot all the way to current models

So I just configured a virtual hard drive with full windows 7 and functioning vida software.
What does this mean?
It means a copy of this file put onto another laptop can result in the ability to have 2 seperate copies of windows, the Vida copy setup just to use for vida.
This allows you to use same hardware, diff software using boot to vhd file.
I will be putting this on my windows 10 fast machine, then I can retire the older slower machine for emergency or to sell as is.
The vida copy seems to need updates turned off, since some updates make vida not work, especially IE and java updates

Does more than any other scanner, much easier than vida, I have vida

This told me I had a stored code about my top stopping before it was retracted and told me my outside temp was NG

it also showed immobilizer codes

awsome scanner, free updates on software until 2018, buy on amazon, then try and return if you don't like it, or if it solves the issue

Just got this, able to do full scan on car, extremely good

So far it sees
Trans status which solenoid it on or off while driving, wheel sensor velocity all at once graphed, wheel temp, to check if brakes are hanging
It saw that my top on c70 stopped and saw the stored codes days afterwards
I saw outside temp sensor issue, still not resolved, but it saw I put a resistor in it to adjust it.
It is also able to reset service lights, srs abs and it even thinks my seatbelt switch if intermittent.
I was very impressed at what it can do so far, and was able to update to newest software in a few minutes.
it even saves results and prints them for you.

Best part, it boots in 10 seconds and can stay on if car is cycled or part is swapped!!!

jenkinskg sounds like this scanner is pretty good, just to be sure about it does read the codes related to the convertible top? I just picked up a 2000 C70 and looking for a scan tool to help me work out all the little issues.

I paid $175 for the all system one, so far it has read more in scan mode than I ever expected, and twice as fast as vida.
Will not do activations like vida, but will point you in correct direction, graphs wheel speed sensors!

Trying to connect Autel MaxiDiag Elite 802 via VMWare Fusion 8.5.3 with no luck. Haven't figured out how to "see it" as a usb device from either Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit running in VMWare. And when the device is connected to usb at start-up, it entirely blocks booting up before the password entry step. Haven't tried XP in VMWare.

The scanner doesn't show up as a usb device, even an unrecognized device w/o drivers, in Mac OS, so maybe it's pointless to hope it might be recognized by a virtual machine.

Any suggestions?
