Finally got to the bottom of the code on my donor car

Took it to a indi shop that specializes in Volvos, connected it to a smoke machine at the gas tank cap. Could not get smoke to the engine. Started disconnecting the main line going back to the tank and the problem ended up being a blocked roll over valve. Blow out the valve with air pressure and it passed the forced OBD2 unit test. I doubt I would have ever found that.

We have replaced all the hoses and spent 800.00 in parts for a air mass meter, and throttle body part and the peddle position sensor not sure these parts have anything to do with this code but we are at a loss as to why this code keeps coming back??? Thoughts or suggestions?

You need to find a better mechanic.

P0455 is EVAP code, which means the there is an "air leak" in the fuel system.
Very often, it is the broken hose above fuel tank, a $10 fix.
Also search for "J-Hose".

Search forum for "P0455" and you will see some threads on this topic.

Oddly, mine turned out to be just the seal on the gas cap. Early on I replaced the cap with a new cap from the dealership (expensive) so I never suspected it. It had a very very soft and small sealing ring. Out of desperation I bought a generic cap from carquest, removed the seal and put it on my original OE cap (I had saved it). I also inspected the filler neck and carefully burnished out a deep scratch in the sealing surface. Afterwards - no more PO455. It was my happiest day of 98 V70 ownership. It hasn't returned (yet).
