Mintex Rear Brake Pad Part Numbers

Hi all, I'm looking for the correct part number for Mintex rear brake pads for my 1997 Volvo 850 T-5. I'm getting #'s MDB2129 and MDB1068. Anyone know for sure ?

From the looks of it, you want MDB2129. I can't seem to find that number on anywhere but eBay UK, but MDB2129 is the correct size for your 850. The second part number appears to be for AWD 70 series, which use a fuller crescent shape pad similar to the fronts rather than the small square shaped pads on the FWD cars.

Thank you. I don't see the mdb2129 anywhere in the states either. There are other "oe" pads listed including textar, pagid, jurid, etc. Any of these recommended? They will be paired with Balo rotors.

Don't hold me to it, but I believe I remember someone complaining about the Pagid brake pads recently, but I don't remember for sure (or the details, for that matter). I think it was abscate if he wants to chime in.
Otherwise, Textar and Jurid (and Pagid, too) are reputable brands for brake pads. FCP Euro has them all listed and they all have good reviews. I don't have experience with those, but all I can tell you is avoid Centric. I made the mistake of cheaping out on a set of Centric brakes from Rock Auto and I regret it every time I drive the car. I'm going all out next time on 302mm front brakes with Zimmerman rotors and Akebono pads all around.
Bosch also makes good brake pads for these cars, but from what I've heard they produce a good bit of dust, but perform well.

Re noise, search forum...

My 1998 S70 with 185K miles.

Rear MINTEX was quiet until down to 2mm then squeaky before stopping.
Replaced at Akebono, noisy during reverse but going forward is fine.
Before people ask, yes I use half shims and all that jazz.

I will probably go back to MINTEX.

Noisy REAR brake is a favorite topic of this forum, search for the pads with no noise LOL...
