Post by Covert »

So 200k later the back end of my 850 is very tired.

So decided to do a bit of a restoration.

Still lots to do , going to replace the exhaust and stone chip the rear end while ive got it all apart
Basically replacing all bushes , shocks , springs , brakes , handbrake cables etc etc

Does anyone know what size the rear brake pipe union that goes to the rear caliper is?
Thanks in advance Mark.

You're not fooling around, aren't you?

That rear axle looks better than when it left the factory!

Your brake lines are all standard European fare, the nuts are M10 x 1.0 fine thread and the lines are 4.75mm with DIN/ ISO flare.
This is a good reference:

Nicely done. I did mine in a similar fashion about a year ago and never regretted it. What kind of paint is that? Mine is starting to peel off. My steel pieces appeared to be hot dipped galvanize coated but I painted them anyway. If I had to do it again I would probably use a good undercoating instead.

thanks Chrafael , mine seemed to be galvanised too although I had them shot blasted as they were covered in 20 years worth of crap .
im using this paint.
https://www.smithandallan.com/products/ ... l-colours/
ive used it in the past for lathe/milling machine restorations and it seems to hold up well.
although grey wasn't my first choice I had a large tin of it so that's the colour it turned out lol.

thanks for the offer Abscate but im in Northampton in the UK~! still welcome in for a brew anytime you are passing! :D
seem to get better responses to questions on this forum to "other" Volvo forums so I tend to use this more .

new rear discs turned up yesterday , and got all the brake pipes changed to new, waiting on rear suspension kit , rear shoes .
and the shot blaster to tell me he has finished my delta mounts .

all the best Mark.
