P80 Volvo parts specialists in Canada

Post by scot850 »

I am trying to find a RH front axle for my 2000 V70 Base (non-turbo) with a 5-speed auto trans. It would appear they are getting hard to find. I would rather buy a good Volvo used item over any aftermarket (can only find FEQ) brand.

My usual source on west coast (Chapman Motors) don't have one which is unusual. I tried Erie-VoVo but all I got as a virus on my computer when trying to access their web-page.

I was sure there was a place called Re-Volv in Saskatchewan near Saskatoon, but can't find any trace of them. I am sure someone mentioned a specialist Volvo used parts supplier in Ontario, but again can't find a supplier there.

Anyone have an axle for this car, even one with bad CV boots? I already have a replacement outer boot and could swap over my outer bearing assembly if needed, but need an axle with a good carrier bearing.

Thanks,

Neil.

The only place I know of in Ontario was Hamilton Motors in Guelph-- I googled them, but they closed in 2016...

Thanks for helping guys. I am trying the Volvo guys. I did see something about them but the note seem to give the impression they had closed down. I'm currently on hold with them on the phone.

Gave up trying to get through to these guys. Put me on hold twice for over 10mines each. Ended up calling Erie VoVo rather than try their web-site. Tried them yesterday on 2 different computers and both got a Trojan virus.

Mind you it is the first time I have been asked to complete a credit card authorisation form and photo copies of driving licence and credit card. A bit concerned after the virus issue, but they claim to have a good axle that no one else seems to have (hopefully).

Didn't know Erie shipped to Canada, Tasca says they will and takes your money and says the parts have shipped and then gives you your money back later claiming the parts were undeliverable or lost or something

Can't say I have had that issue with Tasca. Shipping is definitely not their strength to Canada, and it is much more expensive normally than FCP and takes longer to ship. Their prices are lower mostly than FCP, but when you add the shipping in, often they end up on par overall. FCP shipments take often only 2 days, 3 at most and they have their lifetime warranty on all parts even wear and tear (brakes, etc).

I have had many issues with Tasca, the worst being the shipping of 2 boxes marked 1 of 2 and 2 of 2, which end up getting delivered separately and I am charged 2 x shipping and handling cost by either USPS or UPS. In fairness they repaid the money but I lose twice on exchange costs. Then there was the UPS handled radiator that arrived bent! And not slightly. It looked like someone drove over it. UPS refused to deal with it. Tasca, bless them, shipped a replacement out over-night, packed better and it arrive first thing next day.

Only issue with either is that like all suppliers, they may list the parts but don't have them in stock. This means usually a 2 day further delay.

I feel the pain!

I am impatient! I have ordered one from Erie. Shipping is not much more expensive than it would be in Canada. Will have some handling charges but that is Ok. They wanted $125 for the RH axle and $45 US for shipping which is cheaper than my regular supplier in Canada.

Really appreciate the offer though!

The project is staggering closer toward the finish line, it now just depends on how much more cleaning and painting of components I want to do! This weekend will be cleaning and painting, painting and cleaning and for a few more days as I paint the front suspension to preserve it and the front brake calipers.

Oh, fun, fun, fun!

I should have been patient and waited for you to drop the axle over the border abscate my friend.

It never ceases to amaze me on what a bunch of bandits UPS are. They charge $45 US to ship the item, which is fair. But now they have just notified me that the want another $91 CDN for cross border charges!!!! $15 in tax (should only be $10 or less) and over $65 for brokerage fees!! How come Canada Post can do it for $10 yet it takes UPS 6+ times that cost. The best part is they don't charge that for air-shipments (which I get stuff from FCP and they use and takes 2 days). Best part is I pay them up front as the axle is supposed to arrive now on Monday when I won't be around, and they say that the charges take 24-48 hrs (2 business days) to process!??! How can the company be so good on one part and so truly awful on the other!?

The kick in the nuts is a 2000 V70 base has just come into PnP.
