"bushings" vs. "bushes"

The first time I saw "bushes" I thought it was a typo. But then I've seen it dozens of times.

I'm guessing it's a regional/location difference. But... where?

In New England we used it as a plural. "Is it just one bushing or do we need to do all the bushes"
