I think I was able to marry the DIM to ECU, my door locks and seats etc are all working with replacement DIM now.
DIM is still dark.
Going to use my meter and look for fuses etc.
I did find 4 or 5 wires under dash cut, 2 grey 1 blk wht w blk tracer
I think they are for steering wheel buttons, not sure

I do know that the head gaskets do fail. My sister in law in Hawaii had her's fail at relatively low mileage too. Are you in a hot area? I would think to leave the negative terminal unplugged for an hour. I like your thinking about unplugging the electrical functions. Maybe a ground is messed up? Try the radio. And what's happening when you turn key? Hope to see it resolved!

SO here is where I stand, saw another post that says fuse #32 could cause similar issues
Weather and time are limited, was going to take meter and test all fuses I can find and look for the gremlins.
Replacement dim seems to be paired up now. locks etc all seem to work
It had a broken trip stem, any idea about a replacement?

Previous owner said a hit on dash would allow speedo to come back. I think where the dim harness enters the rest of the wire management it has been pinched or chaffed. Doing head now, will look at that after it is running. How it the wire management release behind speedo?
I do not get many daytime hours to look at this

I've swapped dims without problems. If a programed CEM doesn't fix it. That's a tough mess to play with

Still getting head back on, the spare wires below steering are gone, I traced them up to ignition switch and removed all of them
They were spliced in for a dui breathalyzer thing, only one was interrupting anything, others just taped into wires so was able to get rid of them all.

I believe the DIM issue is a power supply issue, will look at it and deal as it gets running, need to test signals to dim, I bet power or ground is missing

Yes I know that, Prob need DIM repair, but if I have other issues that would be money thrown at the wrong issue.
I have 3 DIM modules, not even sure which one car was born with, I know which one I bought car with, but not sure prev guy did not swap before I bought it.
