Mud flap rivets

Post by scot850 »

So I wrote a note recently on using the correct plastic coated rivets on the fender liners and mud flaps, but like everyone else the cost is crazy from the dealer. I just got a smoking deal from Swedish Car Parts. I won't say how low the price was, but the rivets look identical to the OE, but as a price comparison, I paid about the same foe 100 that I paid for 10 at the dealer and that included shipping to Canada! I know the guys there gave me a smoking deal, so won't say what I actually paid as I don't want to burn any bridges, especially as I got a great deal on Volvo OE coil packs as well. But it may be worth asking if you need some (my car uses 20 at the front and 6 at the rear. For me from the dealer that is well over $100 CDN!

Great guy I dealt with there and service was excellent! I know Robert visited them recently and is a regular customer, now I know why!

Good to know. I used 1/4" nylon screw rivets from Lowe's on my car. I had a few missing rivets because I just had cheap regular rivets in there from when I rebuilt the car that were falling out. So far so good for these plastic rivets.

Yes they offer a "permanent" warranty on many of their parts. Different from lifetime. Lifetime is for the purchaser of the item. Permanent covers the part as long as anyone has it. So, if you sell me a car and the part fails, they will warranty it. ;)

I like FCP for much of the stuff I buy, but their Pro Parts Sweden rivet is 4 x more than I paid for these and the Volvo ones more than 6 times. If I need to replace them that frequently then maybe I should give up driving?! I have enough rivets to replace all the mud flaps 4 times over. I'm not sure the car will last that long!

For the coils I got the OE for less than most suppliers are selling Bosch parts. Ok not the same warranty as FCP, but as both of y cars have only had cylinder #1 coils replaced at I65,000 miles and after 17 years, hopefully I won't need the warranty! Plus the current plan is to be out of P80 ownership by the end of the year. That will only leave our sons 06 XC70 as our sole Volvo. Oh, well.
