heads up Valeo heater cores= OE Behr

Post by Flystagg »

just ordered a new Valeo heater core of amazon for $29 with free shipping and as I suspected it was a rebranded Behr heater core which usually costs $150+ literally says Behr made in france all over it with a valeo sticker on top

The ones on amazon are gone but there are a few left on ebay here

not affilated with this sale just passing on a very good deal

I am wondering if the ebay heater core (Estonia) is as good as Valeo (Behr) heater core in terms of reliability.
I currently have the ebay heater core (Estonia) and the heat is HOT in the winter, as good as the factory HC.

Nice, valeo makes some top quality products.

@CN90, I would say the Behr is a good unit, I just replaced mine, it was 18yrs old and the car had 235,000km and it was starting to smell but no major leaks and the failure mode is safe; no large leaks and I would say that lasts quite a long time.

The one demerit for the Estonia core is the moldy odor for a while after installation. I just bought another one (now $45.00 shipped) and the color of the plastic parts has been changed to black for some reason. Maybe a different plastic that eliminates the odor? If so, I'll update this post with info.

Run it under hot water for a few seconds. If you smell an odor, degrease it.

My Swedish Car Parts hc stank no matter what, so I removed it and replaced with very low miles non discolored OE unit from Pic-n-Save. Spaghetti like strands peeking out of the bottom of the SCP unit. I'd use one for 2 years no longer, and consider it a temporizing measure. Are all Behr units the same? Some of them appear to have different color plastic etc. 30 bucks for a seemingly OE unit sounds suspicious to me.
