Post by Switchemlee »

I was driving on a wet rainy day i turn around a corner and put my foor to the peddle then my tires spin and my speedometer goes up while tires spinning on wet ground from not enoigh traction... that happens and then all of a sudden my cel comes on and i read it and i get a p0243 code. Now my car is overboosting like heck now its a 98 v70xc lpt model. I checked all hoses and they look good. I have all silicone hoses on my TCV I drive this car 100 miles a day for work and need to figure this one out asap! I checked all my vaccum likes they all look good... i tried a different TCV and that didnt help..

I think most any Volvo will spin tires on full boost.

Check the wastegate adjustment, many people play with it to get some more boost but at some point it will code.

Detailed procedure in the VRD.

Mean life of TCV is about 100k miles after which they get tired and dont feed boost reliably

Robert's video refers to the MAF sensor.
Code P0243 is a turbo boost solenoid failure code. I have replaced one on my XC90, don't know if the 5 cyl is on the airbox, or the fan shroud
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)
