New struts on 1996 850 now can't get alignment ?

Post by drumsagogo »

Hi,
I just put new struts/mounts/control arms/tie rods ends on my '96 850.
Basically replaced everything I could, used OEM struts etc.

I took it to Midas for an alignment and after looking at the paperwork this is what they wrote:

"right front camber not adjustable, would need to get strut mount adjusters, also right rear toe off, would have to install shim."

I'm a little lost here...is there a reason they couldn't do this? I don't understand...everything is brand new!!! Should I have taken it to the volvo dealer instead for the alignment?

IPD sells a camber kit to increase the factory camber range.

IPD Camber Kit

On the rear toe they simply don't know what they are doing. The rear toe is adjustable without shims. It is important that the car be aligned in this order:

Rear Toe
Front Camber
Front Toe

Otherwise they will just chase their tail.

thanks for the reply.

maybe I should just install it the kit on the right front side and take it to the dealer for the alignment? or might the dealer install the kit?

I don't think i'll take it back to midas.

The dealers actually have their own version of the kit if you actaully do need it.
