Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
Putting a new anti roll bar on the 850 as the vulcanised bushes on the bar are shot , taken the rear subframe mounts off and dropped the front by 4 turns each .undone all 4 of the bolts that hold the bar to the subframe so it's now loose in the car . Issue is this piece of metal that seems to be attached to the steering rack ?
Any help you can provide will be gratefully received!
Thanks folks , Lee you can just about make out the downpipe and flexi on the left ,so this bracket is to the right of the exhaust
The photo is from the back of the subframe shooting fowards towards the front of the car .
The ipd photos dont have this bracket in the pics .....
The anti roll bar is sandwiched between the power steering rack and this bracket it seems .....
Anyway speaking to a volvo nut at work he has advised that the plate above is sandwiched between the subframe and the steering rack so you have to take the subframe out to get the anti roll bar out ....
Its 95% undone , so seeing as ive got to take it out i thought i would replace the bushes and hydraulic engine mounts and have the subframe sandblasted as i really dont want to be doing this job again !
Are the hydraulic engine mounts different front to back or can you just buy x2 of the same ?
Also are the subframe bushes different or again can i just buy x4 bushes ?
I take it the new bushes need to be pressed in ?
On my FWD 850 and V70 the front and back are different part #'s. Looking up on Vida for a Euro spec RHD 94 855T, they are listed as 2 different part numbers.
Rear is listed as: 9434435
Front is listed as: 6801722
These would appear to be the same for all P80's from 92-00 for the rear and front and for manual and auto.

dont know if i should change it or not as its not leaking but very easy to change now that the subframe is out .....
do you know if the subframe mounts are all the same ?
Thanks Mark.
