2008 S60 2.5T - Spring seat replacement

I've got a creak coming from the front passenger side of my car and I'm pretty sure it's the spring seat on account of being able to twist the nut on the top of the strut around freely where I can't on the other side. I haven't found anything that says that this is going to be too difficult to do (other than compressing springs being a bit scary), but could someone help me out a bit with what parts I need? I know I need a new spring seat, but I've heard that there's some nuts and bolts that can't be re-used.

If you've never done it, think twice
Should be replaced in pairs and you may want to think about new struts at this time

I've done this repair. It's pretty straight forward. The only special tool needed is a spring compressor - no big deal.
Consider replacing the two bolts that attach the strut to the knuckle and the axle bolt.(But this is NOT necessary)
Do both sides together. Get new bump stops and top bearings to go along with the new spring seats... if they need replacing. Mine did.
Also, make sure to get it aligned afterwards. It will need it.

Try by all chances to undo the nut on the other side with the strut on the car. You definitely need a real torx or hex 3/8" socket (not sure which one is needed) with a ratchet to keep it from moving, plus a wrench or adjustable pliers to turn the nut. But as above, if this is your first time job as 'home mechanic' is not the easiest job, rather a real test

You'll have to do the same on the upper sway bar end link nut.

For the spring seat only Sachs or the upgraded part for XC90. I would go with the original non upgraded Sachs as I am under the impression it gives the car a special 'soft' feeling when riding on highway.

Has anyone tried the speedstruts/quickstruts ?

FCP looks to be sold out of them already.

Thanks for the replies everyone. So what I'm getting is that at a bare minimum I need:

2x spring seats
2x bump stops
2x strut mount (if they're worn out)
1x alignment done

Is that correct? I haven't noticed any signs of a worn out strut since I checked them when I first started hearing creaking from my front end, but I'll definitely replace them if I need to. Also on a side note, does replacing a strut mount mean that I have to have the alignment done or does that not change it?

Yes, and yes. You will need to get an alignment after messing with the strut assembly.
