'99 V70 XC 2.4T AWD -- Front brake drag 3 weeks after overhaul

I had my front brakes replaced (calipers, rotors, pads, brake hoses, hardware, brake fluid flush) and ~3 weeks later I have the front axle's brakes dragging again... The rear is fine, as it also was before.

The anti rattle spring clips appear to be on in the right position. I received no squealing, I just started noticing a loss of power and the wonderful aroma of hard earned money going up in smoke on the highway =( For what I have already spent on having that brake job done I probably could have, and at this point feel I should have, brought it to a Volvo dealer...

I'm going to be bringing it right back to a major well-known chain in the very near future for them to re-diagnose their work and the situation.

Any ideas in the interim folks? I'm wondering if they used calipers with phenolic pistons rather than metal... Crap rebuilds, etc...

What are the odds that a faulty ABS controller/valve body or a master cylinder could cause this? As far as I know almost all cars (now a days) use 2 hydraulic circuits for the wheels on a diagonal so I would imagine that the master cylinder is probably zilch for probability...

Dragging again? Maybe the ABS valve body has some damage.

try pulling the ABS fuse and seeing if it stops. That does sound like an ABS failure but to get a failure without a code would surprise me.

Roy reminded me this doesn't work on ME7 as immobilizer and ABS share fuse. Pull connector instead.

Wasn't able to pull the connector - the way to disconnect it eludes me and I don't want to break it. I think it is likely something simple that I just can't gleam from the top.

What I was able to do was (VIDA) exercise all of the ABS valves/solenoids and they all sound good. My feeling is I had something gooped up in there. Still bringing the car in tomorrow morning as I think I may also have a tie-rod end that is on it's way out.

May hook up the vac bleeder and exercise each of the channels on that ABS module while pulling fluid - this should solve the issue if it is mechanic/hydraulic in nature or show me for sure that it isn't bleeding pressure as it should. ABS Pump sounds like a blender but works - I'm guessing it is normal since every car I've had with ABS sounds like that. Sounds like a piston pump with a stepper motor if I had to guess...

Roy..on Monday I am a bachelor for two weeks as all the women are going to Italy for a meet with some guy named Clooney, so the Volvo driveway shop is open for business. We even have a rain shade.

Have spare cars if stuck, too.

The shop stated they didn't see anything wrong. Had them balance all 4 tires and move the front to the rear to see if there is potentially an issue with a wheel.

I'm no longer on call as of Tuesday AM but will not be "out" until at least 4 PM.

So I'm calling this solved. I noticed they cleaned up the sliders rather well and re-lubed - it hasn't dragged since. VIDA confirmed my seat of the pants findings as the pad temps stayed about even on both sides. Previously I went from both sides sticking, to just the drivers. When just the drivers was sticking there was a 45-65c increase on that side over the side that wasn't sticking while the brakes weren't applied hitting normal highway speeds.

I still wish to check and potentially order parts for the seal on the side of what I'll call the transfer case that has a little leak...

I don't believe it to be an oil cooler leak as I've driven close to 2k miles on the current oil fill without losing a drop. Believe it could be gear oil, but I haven't stuck my finger in and tried the sniff test.
