This thread resonates with me now! I've had a great ad - tons of pictures, thorough description, list of flaws - up for my MBZ 240D for nearly two weeks now. I put a high price on the ad, but that seems to be the case with every other W123 Mercedes in central and northern Texas. After nearly two weeks, it's only gotten a few nibbles, and nobody's come to see the car in person.
I think we sometimes get caught up in our own recognition that these are good cars. I paid well over market value for a good P80 because I knew it was a good example of the car I wanted, but most people on Craigslist don't know what car they want, and when I could get a functional Honda that won't break for 3000, why would a Volvo be a better buy?

Almost had it sold to a neighbor off the lawn. She fell in love with it. Done deal... but She just came up short for money due to a immediate personal problem. I even offered to carry a few payments to help her thru the problem. No sale. Crazy that a convertible in the summer... with cold A/C for about $4K has not sold is mind boggling to me. Ain't gonna find one much nicer and as well maintained... for that money. No its not perfect. But its $4k not $40K either. I agree with Matt... I am sure its not the car that's the problem... its the market. I would say only 2 or 3 people have even inquired about the car.
