One thing I got out of a bone yard was a nice, complete, right side view mirror set. Ever since I got this car I have wanted one. When I asked someone at Volvo about this long ago they told me it was too hard for me to do myself. So I just gave up.
Now that I have the part and some time, I am wondering if anyone can tell me the procedure to remove the current solid plates and install the mirror? Is it really that hard or was someone dishing me some B.S. long ago?
Thanks

Managed to find enough answers from folks at the BrickBoard and TurboBricks forums to get this job done. I did remove the door panel although it may not strictly be required. The key is that the interior panel should be pried away slowly working from the top down until about mid-way when there is a plastic snap-catch that pops loose. Sadly I pried from the bottom up and broke off the little tab on the bottom. Hopefully I won't need it. Also key was learning that the metal outer piece is secured by a screw from the inside. So once that is removed, the outer piece can be gently pried back and then up and out. I have the new side view installed now and it seems to work as expected. Only time will tell if it hold water.
