My apologies in advance for posting in this forum but I suspect my issue may be more general and the XC90 forum does not seem to be nearly as active as this one.Plus I see folks from here occasionally posting over there...
I'm trying to release the parking brake so I can replace the rotors on my 2014 XC90. The parking brake adjuster looks like it's used on several models of Volvo vehicle and likely some vehicles in this forum.
From the fine threads on the adjuster it looks like it should be turnable by hand. Instructions I found indicate to turn it counterclockwise in order to remove the clip, then rotate clockwise to loosen slack in cable. I can't seem to budge it even with some needle nose pliers. The entire cable wants to twist.
So I'm wondering what the correct tools and steps are so as not to damage the parking brake cable mechanism. Photos or a video would be very helpful.
Thanks
Parking Brake Adjustment Release

Removing the clip first worked. Was able to loosen parking brake cable. Rotors were closer to coming off but the rust held them on. Came off after some pushing, pulling, and yelling,
