Metal coolant line under lower radiator hose behind engine rupture
At 13.5 years and 134K my T6 finely left me on the side of the interstate for it's first breakdown. No not the transmission, but a heater hose size metal line directly below where the lower radiator hose connects at the back of the engine. Under the new hose in second picture marked Volvo with the big shiny hose clamp. Anybody had this happen? The dashboard readout said low coolant pull the car over SAFELY. Lol So it never had the chance to overheat thank God! Volvo had to put the word safely in there... June

Re: Metal coolant line under lower radiator hose behind engine rupture Topic is solved
It turned out the rubber heater hose which I think is the return hose split. Two new Volvo heater hoses, Volvo coolant, distilled water, and my car is just fine. It was hard to see where the rupture was as it was buried under the connection of the lower radiator hose until the lower radiator hose came off. Anyway I'm back enjoying my Volvo. June

Re: Metal coolant line under lower radiator hose behind engine rupture
I have 2002 S80 T6 and I had replaced all my coolant hoses 2016 except the engine oil coolant lines. Most are OK except the small turbo coolant hose https://www.ipdusa.com/products/6288/11 ... eturn-hose behind and under the driver side turbo charger. That was the most difficult hose to replace and that location is very hot. That hose was soft and partially delaminated, and was about to rupture any moment. I would be at side of road If I did not replace that hose. Also, Volvo oem blue coolant works a lot better than Prestone. I purchased BMW coolant, which had same exact formulation but better price. Now I don't have that "localized boiling" ( you hear the engine click clack) after shutting off the engine in a very hot day.
